I grew up helping my parents in their small backyard garden. As an adult, I turned my focus to serving in the Navy as a helicopter search and rescue swimmer. During my service, I kept up on research pertaining to agriculture, sustainability, and soil sciences. When I ultimately became 100% disabled, I returned to my gardening roots as a way to continue helping those around me. It gave me a purpose, which is something a lot of veterans struggle with finding when they retire. Since then, Abby’s has grown from a small plot in my backyard to over 80 acres of land and a community of people dedicated to helping others find their own purpose.
